Design Challenge

The Aunt Sadie’s brand had an aging custom PHP eStore from the late 2000’s and digital branding from some time before that. Aunt Sadie’s wanted to upgrade to an open source content management system, integrate their POS to have an automated product & inventory sync, and increase their organic search rankings.

They wanted to make it easier to find themed products in their expansive product catalog and move to a modernized design, but wanted to stay away from “too clean” and express the kitschy and fun sense of humor they’ve established with their labels.

How We Delivered

Powered by WooCommerce and running a nightly product sync, the website now enters the modern web, where site owners can quickly manage their inventory to inform their production and shipping logic.

At the time it was launched, each candle had it’s own unique story and description, with terms and phrases relevant to personality of the candle, making it easy for users to find their new favorite candle from both from search and through search engines.

More Old Navy and less Banana Republic was the design direction, where we expanded the palette to include warm pastels and earth tones against a stark white, keeping content layouts clean but interesting. Unique typography furthered the site towards a more pop-art and americana feel.
